SASHINKA
As Sasha prepares for the most important concert of her career, her estranged mother turns up at her doorstep. Sasha’s boundaries are tested over the next 24 hours as the reasons for the unexpected visit, come to light, forcing her to confront her volatile mother and the past she worked so hard to transcend.

KRISTINA WAGENBAUER
Kristina has been writing and directing award-winning short films since 2007. Her first feature, Sashinka (2017), was supported by Telefilm Canada’s Talents to Watch, and screened at many festivals including SIFF, Whistler, Tofifest, and at the Naples IFF, where it won the Indie Spirit Award. Sashinka was released theatrically in Quebec, and was nominated for 3 Canadian Screen Awards, after which it was sold to CBC/Radio-Canada, TV 5 Monde, and Super Écran. Kristina holds a BA in Communications from Lugano University, and studied directing at L’inis in Montreal. She is also an alumna of several prestigious seminars including The Summer Film School at the Locarno Film Festival, the Berlinale Talent Campus, the EAVE Producers Workshop, and the Academy Apprenticeship for Women Directors. She has signed on to direct several feature projects, and is currently writing Gigi, her second feature film.
