JEANNE LEBLANC
After studying cinema at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Jeanne won an artist’s residency in Madrid where she directed a short film inspired by the historic neighbourhood of Lavapiès. Since her return, she has devoted herself to cinema, and her short films have travelled to festivals around the world. In parallel with her career as a writer-director, Jeanne also works as a 1st assistant director, and film lecturer at her alma mater. Her first feature, Isla Blanca (2018), invites viewers to dive into the poetic complexities of filial relationships. The rest of her work, including Garrincha (2017), Ten Seconds of Carla (2016) and One Night With You (2011), explore similar themes such as solitude, and the intricacies of intimacy. Jeanne is fascinated by the gamut of human connections and approaches this topic with an understated sensitivity. Her second feature, Our Own, was released in 2020.
