CHÉLANIE BEAUDIN-QUINTIN

Visual artist and filmmaker, Chélanie Beaudin-Quintin creates dance films, virtual reality experiences, fiction, and video installations. Her practice intersects dance, cinema, and anthropology to explore the individual and collective body. She delves into spaces of exchange and cohabitation, and our animistic behavior. Through dance and film, she seeks to create a new dramaturgy whose narrative form, departing from classical codes, appears more sensory and embodied. She also created videos for two productions by director Marie-Ève Milot, written by Nathalie Doummar, namely the plays Sissi, presented at La petite Licorne in 2019, and more recently Mama, presented at Théâtre Duceppe in 2022 (reprised in July 2023). Her first virtual reality film, 21 Gun Salute, also involved choreographic work and was presented at the Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma in 2020. Her work has been exhibited in several exhibitions and events in Quebec, Toronto, and internationally, including Belgium, Germany, Italy, and the United States.

CAROLINE LAURIN-BEAUCAGE

Contemporary dance artist and educator, Caroline Laurin-Beaucage has been driving creative projects from a multidisciplinary perspective since the beginning of her career. Her work has been showcased in Montreal (Danse Danse, Agora de la danse, Tangente, Festival TransAmériques, OFFTA), as well as in France, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, and Korea, among others. Over time and from one work to another, she crystallizes her poetry of the body through experiences presented in theaters, but also in situ (Habiter sa mémoire), in installations (Marquer le temps), in the form of projection (REBO(U)ND), and most recently through virtual reality (Bodies of water). New technologies are an integral part of her artistic proposals: notable collaborations include those with artist Martin Messier (Soak and Innervision) and Thomas Payette of Mirari company. Trained at the Toronto Dance Theatre School, she worked as a performer with Ginette Laurin (O Vertigo), Jacques Poulin-Denis, Paul-André Fortier, and Jean-Pierre Perreault. Caroline taught as a lecturer at Concordia University from 2005 to 2019 and is now a professor in artistic practice in the Dance Department at UQAM since 2020. Co-founder and member of Lorganisme, she co-directed the artistic direction and general management of the organization until 2019. She also served on the artistic committee that led the development of the O Vertigo Creation Center.
