Weakened by the mental burden she carries on her shoulders, Micheline feels isolated in a now very silent house. My grandmother, a woman who is slowly losing her husband, my grandfather, to his degeneration. An ode to the silent strengths of the women of this generation, often pillars more by obligation than by choice.

AMÉLIE BARRETTE
Amélie Barrette is a 25-year-old multidisciplinary artist from Montreal, who recently graduated from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University with a degree in Film Production. They specialize mainly in documentary style while navigating various roles within the cinematic universe. Amélie notably stood out with their short documentary Permanently Closed, which was part of the official selection at the Soirée de la relève - Radio Canada at RIDM in 2018. Since then, they have produced and directed the short film The Sleeping Castle, during which they began their first collaboration with Art et essai through their partner and producer, Laurence Wells. They are continuing this partnership with an immersive work in development, simUlator.
